Alexis Flanagan (she/ella) is a queer Black feminist DC girl whose heart pumps to the beat of “the Pocket” that holds down DC go-go music and culture. 

After living abroad as an exchange student in Argentina during her senior year of high school and receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish Language and Literature from University of Maryland, College Park, Alexis began her career as a K-12 and adult educator, teaching Spanish to English speakers and English to speakers of other languages. She became certified as a simultaneous interpreter in the inaugural class of the program at Howard University School of Continuing Education.

Alexis’s career in education led her to want to deepen the impact she might have in transforming systemic oppression and securing collective liberation for all. She served the movement to end gender-based violence for 20 years as a bilingual advocate, organizer, facilitator, and trainer in 2 state-wide sexual and domestic violence coalitions and as assistant director of a local domestic violence and rape crises center. Alexis was a Movement Maker in NoVo Foundation’s Move to End Violence Program and currently serves as Co-Director of Resonance Network, a system shifting network of worldbuilders intent on visioning, creating and governing a world in which all beings and the Earth thrive in conditions of mutual care.

Alexis is a Ancestral Bridge and Purpose Coach, the Founder and CEO of ARVEL Group, LLC and the creator of the Ancestral Bridging℠ brand where she approaches coaching and consulting from a framework of transformative learning theory, adult learning theory, and the simultaneously emergent and indigenous ways of knowing that center non cognitive dimensions of learning that are embodied, spiritual, and narrative or “storied”. Drawing on her experience as a Certified Life, Leadership and Executive Coach, Certified Holistic Health Coach, Certified Reiki Healer, student and ordained priest in the Rinzai Zen tradition, practitioner of Emergent Strategy and 20 years facilitating for transformation, racial equity and liberation, Alexis helps badass, spirit-centered changemakers build strong connections to ancestral abundance and bold purpose in order to experience healing, transformation and liberation and align all they do in their lives and work with what, to them, matters the most.

Alexis partners with clients in:  1:1 coaching, group coaching, organizational consulting, genealogy research, Ancestral Bridging℠ readings and workshops, and intuitive storytelling workshops and retreats. She lives in Bowie, MD with her partner Marquita and her super cute fur baby, Boss.
